About Anne-Marie

For me, a day without a story or a song is like a day without sunshine!

I’m fortunate to be doing my dream job, combining music, storytelling and teaching. I began telling in 1994 while working as a children’s librarian. Today I perform full time at schools, libraries, festivals and special events for families. I utilize my training as a teacher and librarian to develop programs specifically for young children. I play a variety of instruments including guitar, fiddle, banjo and keyboard. I am also a registered Music Together® teacher.

I have performed at the Providence Children’s Museum, The Connecticut Storytelling Festival, The Toronto Storytelling Festival, The White Mountain Storytelling Festival, The Curious George Festival, Bright Night in Providence and Fall River, and the RI State Library Summer Reading Program. I have presented workshops at the New England Early Childhood Association, The RI Early Childhood Association, Parenting Matters, Save the Bay, and The National Catholic Educators Conference. I am a member of LANES: The Northeast Storytelling Association, The Connecticut Storytelling Association, Children’s Music Network, and the RI Educational Media Association.

Professional Experiences:

5 years as a classroom teacher for developmentally delayed students, primary level

11 years as a children’s librarian and music teacher at Bradley Hospital, a psychiatric hospital for children, working with students from pre-school – high school with a wide variety of diagnoses including developmental delays, behavior disorders, schizophrenia, depression, communication disorders, autism.

20 years as an independent storyteller/musician working with children in pre-school and elementary school

10 years as a registered Music Together® teacher working with infants, toddlers, pre-schoolers and their families
